New Structures in the Archdiocese

An Archdiocesan Enquiry Committee has been constituted to make fact finding studies about grievances referred to the Archbishop’s Office. Fr. Michael Goveas has been appointed Convenor of this Committee, the other members of the Committee being: Fr. Salvador Rodrigues and Fr. Savio Fernandes. The Committee will have the competence to study matters referred to it by the Archbishop and after study, present its conclusions and recommendations to the Archbishop. The Archbishop will then, in consultation with the team of bishops, take a decision about the matter and about any follow up action that may be required.

After the unexpected and sudden demise of Msgr. Stanislaus Lobo, our Financial Administrator, I have felt it necessary to redefine the competences of the Finance Office, splitting what was taken care of earlier by Msgr. Lobo into three sections. I have therefore appointed a senior, experienced and highly qualified Finance Management expert who has held various positions of responsibility in India and abroad as Financial Consultant to the Archbishop. Similarly a retired High Court Judge has been appointed the legal Advisor to the Archbishop. Matters regarding land and estate will continue to be under the supervision of Fr. Elias D’Cunha assisted by Fr. Sunder Albuquerque and Fr. Seraj Pinto.

A Property Advisory Committee and a Disaster Management Cell are also being established.
